    Kestrel+ballistic software vs. WEATHERmeter+BallisticARC

Interested in what people have to say. The WEATHERmeter and BallisticARC app system is significantly less expensive. I guess it may not be if one takes into account the cost of a phone, but I'm going to have the phone either way. Thanks for any input you may have.

I just started making use of the BallisticARC app with the Weather Flow Meter. So far, I'm very happy with it's out put. Over the weekend, I actually had my rifle go down in a match on Saturday and picked up a buddy's back up rifle for the match on Sunday. With a rifle I had never pulled the trigger on till Sunday morning and a little data as far as velocity, bullet type, and the weather meter I actually finished up 18th out of 46 Shooters. This rifle was 308 where as I normally compete with my 6 Creedmoor. Data was dead on to about 600yds then I had to take off about .2 mils from what the output was beyond that to 1180yds on the longest target of the day. If I had a little time to sync it up, I'm sure it would have been dead on. I also never checked what my zero was on the rifle as I am nearly a foot taller than my buddy, so it may have just been a slightly different zero with me shooting. I'll take those results any day at the price point of the BallisticARC system.

Thanks for the real world, first hand account. How'd you like the BallisticARC user interface? What's your experience using Kestrel's?

Kestrel takes a lot of extra clicking, but is nice to have everything on one piece of gear. I had one that got jacked on a range trip back in California and have been wishing I could replace it up until this came out. They both work and seem to have the same outcome when properly programed.

User interface of BallisticARC is great. Very simple to get a chart with real world on the spot weather info. Also has a competition mode which I really like as I can make a quick range card with come ups and wind all in one package. Also like the map function that is relatively accurate to drop target points and shooting position and provides ranging feedback. I need to test it's accuracy still, but it does seem to be quite promising. I find it to be more accurate than shooter for me so far as I don't have nearly as many inputs to screw up. I'll have a better idea over the next few months worth of matches.
