Savage short action bottom metal question

I have an Accustock that needs bottom metal. I ordered an internal centerfeed magazine from Savage. I am looking at it now. On one side there is a latch, which releases the bottom plate for unloading from beneath the action, if needed. It works fine. On the other side, the flat edge of the bottom plate is about 1/8 inch proud of the bottom of the bottom metal. In my mind's eye, it should be flush. What am I looking at? Does it snug up when installed on the stock? Don't see how. Any clues from those with more experience about this? I called Savage and explained the issue to them. "Explained poorly" it appears because the replacement part that they generously sent me is exactly the same as the part which had me scratching my head.

Arrg. Mods - apologies, this should be in the Savage 110 action section, not the classifieds. Any assistance moving it would be appreciated and apologies for the headache.
