I thought the Savage F Class rifle was more popular. Guess not.
I'm putting together a target action (3 screw ) in a Savage F Class stock I got from NSS.
I expected the pillars would be proud of the wood bed but mine are recessed by about .020".
Anyone here who has looked to see how their Savage F Class is bedded on the pillars would you please describe?
I've never used pillars but have researched extensively and found there's a multitude of theories on the best way...
My first thought was to have the action on the three pillars and touching nowhere else except the rear of the recoil lug. If that doesn't shoot, I would try Mcmillens method.

The ones on my Magnum 112 were slightly recessed. Since it was a solid bottom 3 screw I just skim bedded it and started shooting. Seems to work OK.
todd,
Thanks for that information. That's where I'll start. Gotta figure how to get bedding under the rear screw.
