Totally New Owner - Bolt getting stuck midway when opening on mk2 fkp?

    Hi all,

I just bought savage mk II fkp at cabella's.

When working with the bolt I noticed that it would get stuck when I am opening or closing the bolt. It would come up, stop, and only when i would give a further push it would open or close.

On closer inspection it looks like the fit is a little too tight on the rail and the bolt.

    Here are some photos:

grease marks are my futile attempts to oil her up and get it working smoothly.

As a new guy at the shooting scene this is my first bolt-action, and I'm not sure if it is supposed to stop mid-way like that.

Are all the savage mark 2's like that? Should I get an exchange? Or will it break itself in after shooting?

    I appreciate your help.

They can be tight when new and most likely just needs to be broken in some. Cycle the bolt a hundred or so times, it should loosen up nicely. Take it apart and clean it and get accustomed to your rifles parts and how it functions. Keep the bolt lightly oiled and it should be fine.
