Savage 110 Misfires Sometimes, Fires Sometimes

First, the front stock screw was too long and prevented the bolt from closing completely....gunsmith shortened the screw and the bolt now closes. now about every 6th round, I get a misfire...primer dented, but not much.... good ammo....bolt seems to close all the way..........can anyone help...thanks in advance...

Have you ever checked the head space?

Now, I just noticed the big screw that holds the bolt in was not snug.....tightened quarter turn.....would that have caused the problem?

If this is an Accutrigger - if you don't pull the safety/blade straight back you will get this.

    1.Head space issue
2.Firing pin protrusion needs to be atleast .055"
    3. Weak firing pin spring?
Idk if a 1/4 turn is enough to cause the issue but you are certainty helping by tightening.
With all these issues I would certainly disassemble the bolt and look things over or have a Smith do it.

Take bolt apart, clean & lightly lube, reassemble.
