    Hinged floor plate popping open

Hi guys, I have savage bear hunter 116 300winmag that I had pillar bedded into a laminate stock. I had to buy a new hinged floor plate as the original one had the bear claw emblem taken off. Never had an issue with the original one. The new one does not really want to stay closed (even adjusting the tiny Allen key adjustment on the floor plate release trigger). Needless to say, when it spits out 200 grains at 3,000fps the floor plate spills it's guts. Savage does not reopen till Jan 3rd. Does anyone know what the issue is or if I can remedy it on my own?

Remove the adjustment screw and inspect it. It probably has a rounded edge on the bottom. The bottom needs to be flat and square.
