    Axis 6.5x55 rebarrel

My casings essentially half eject. I am assuming that this is due to the bolt face being a tick smaller than case. Common problem?

Remington also makes brass with a standard .308 case head. Not the best brass in the world and you may have to buy loaded ammo but there may be a solution if the new detent ball don't fix it.

Do you mean it's only pulling the cases halfway out or not kicking the cases all the way out? If pulling halfway out then it's the extractor claw. If not kicking the cases out then it's the ejector.

There is usually some slop in factory bolt face recess so the difference in .007 bolt face diameter should not matter too much. Have you taken the bolt out and insert a case in the bolt face to see how it fits?

I have a 6.5x55 built in a 111 action. I had the same bolt face concern, but mine has functioned flawlessly with no other mod except for barrel, nut, and lug. I'm using Lapua and Norma brass so the brass should be at .480 instead of .473 (haven't measured it).

I had to open my bolt face up in order to reliably eject spent cases in my 6x55.
Changing the detent ball or the extractor did nothing to increase reliability.

Guess I lucked out on my build.

My 111 is an older model without accutrigger. Maybe the newer models have tighter tolerances.

Change brass....PPU or Lapua. Brass may be catching the top of the magazine before ejection can be completed...especially if you have an aftermarket stock.

See if it's hitting anything on the way out. You may need to upgrade the ejector spring to a stiffer one.

You can try removing the ejector spring and stretching it a little to give it a more springgy feel to see if it solves the issue.
