    What model 1899?

Model 1899, Serial # 45.xxx (1904?) 26" full octagon barrel, schnabel tip, rounded pads on the sides of the straight crescent buttstock, made in Utica. It seems to match the description of a 1899B except for the rounded pads. This is the only one I've seen with a safety on the lever that has a pin that fits into a hole. What do I have?

According to my book, it's an 1899B.

I don't understand the "rounded pads" on the butt stock. Can you be a little more specific for a rookie?

I didn't quite get that part either, that's why I asked for pics. There were a lot of variations that aren't documented.

Sounds like an 1899 that someone replaced the stock with an 1895 set. Strange.
