Are there any sources for factory Savage barrels?

I'm looking for a simple factory barrel with a factory sporter contour. 30-06, and stainless. I can't seem to find any. Jim Briggs apparently doesn't carry them anymore.

Any source for factory barrels? Will Savage Arms sell me one direct?

    Thank you

Only take off barrels on non Savage sites.

No one can get Savage Barrels from Savage other than on the end of a receiver (whole gun)

Does anyone know if this means I can send my barreled action to Savage for the installation of a new barrel? If so, how would the cost compare with just buying an aftermarket and doing it myself?

Savage will replace a defective barrel under warranty, but I don't think they will touch a refurbish job due to insurance reasons. Too many unknowns. And what with certain political groups trying to make gun manufactures responsible for the end use of their product, insurance actuaries must be going completely nuts, and the cost per unit for liability insurance will surely climb like a homesick angel.

Buy a good aftermarket barrel, have it installed or install it yourself and get back to doing what you enjoy. Just saying...

As mentioned above, they come up on the classified section here, but You have to be a paid member to access.

I have bought many factory barrels off EBay. They are listed under Savage Barrels.

The 3006 barrel on classified.for $40 I'd the way to go. Buy it, use it and wait till you find a great deal on a stainless one

Become a site member ($15) and watch the classified section or post in the Want to Buy (WTB) section. I'll bet there are several members with Savage SS factory new and used 30-06 barrels collecting dust. Also check Ebay and Gunbroker. After hunting season and the new year, you should be able to find several for sale over time.
