    75gr gold dot 223--can I?

someone gave me 75gr gold dot factory ammo and I want to make sure its okay to shoot in an axis 223- 1-9 twist. I have an axis 2 the throat seems to be very short and an axis 1 that it seems to be long.

anyone shoot heavy bullets like this in their axis?

No, but as long as the chamber is anywhere in the normal range of dimensions there's no reason why you shouldn't give 'em a try.

I've shot 75 grain Hornady match with my Axis II XP with good results. Not good enough to justify the extra expense.

Might want to load one in the short chamber and close the bolt very easy and then remove the cartridge to see if you got any marks on the bullet tip from the lands.
