    Savage 1911

In the .22 ammo post I mentioned the Savage 1911, so I figured I'd post a few pics of it. I had never heard of them, I was told by the seller it was only made from 1911-1912. It's a boys rifle, 22 short only, but what amazed me, it's a 20 shot repeater. It feeds through the butt.

Can't imagine there were to many of them made! And it shoots pretty good, too!

There were quite a few of these made, but the stocks are very weak at the wrist due to being drilled through for the magazine so many probably did not survive. The serial numbers probably started at 1000 and I have recorded numbers over 32000. They are definitely one of the more unique and interesting repeaters ever made. 20 shot with 10 at ready and 10 in reserve in the split magazine tube.

The stock was repaired at the wrist. You can see somebody had wrapped wire around it to hold it in place while the glue set. It was well used, but that what adds character to these old guns. I wonder how many trips it made to the dump, to shoot rats, or how many squirrels it harvested!!?? If these old guns could just talk!!
