    1907 automatic refinish

    Hi all,

I acquired a 1907 automatic circa 1919. The finish is 98% gone. Would rebluing this gun hurt its historical and monetary value?

    Thanks

    YES!
Once refinished you have a non original shooter. No collector value what so ever.
My suggestion is to either keep the one you have as a shooter and look for a nice original one or sell the shooter and get a better one.

Unless there's something special about it I'd go ahead and get the reblue. Model 1907's in 32 are like Winchester 94's in 30-30, not real hard to find and you can get them cheap.
    Savage- "never say never".
