    Bottom eject 22 pump

I ran across these old pictures and don't think I ever posted them here, just looking at the features I would guess it's from no later that 1925 -

    R&D gun Gene?

Must be worth a pretty penny, never seen a Savage 22 with bottom eject.

Documented R&D gun, most expensive gun I ever bought and it was totally in pieces about a half hour after I got it home because I couldn't wait to see how it worked! One of the most complicated (and delicate) looking 22 pumps I have ever seen.

I bought another R&D pump gun from the same person, he had gotten them from Peter Doud. The other one was from them looking to add a pump 22 to the Models 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 line that had receivers made from steel tubing and shared the same look and as many parts in common as the different action types would allow. The pump was based on the Model 5 & 6 tube fed and use the same parts from the chamber forward and shared the same lifer & feed design.

    (I took it apart too.)

Here's one that is similar, it has a Model 5 marked barrel & shares a few design features with the one above. Unfortunately this one went through a fire that was supposedly set by the gun shop owner in an attempt to collect on insurance. It is not documented as an R&D gun but it seems to me the features it shares with the other one are to close to be a coincidence, it has a longer action and appears like it could be an earlier version -
