    Stevens 59a

I was given a Stevens 59a .410 today. It has an 18" threaded barrel and a Lyman Cutts compensator with a modified choke. Does anyone know if this was a factory modification or more likely a gunsmith mod? I thought most of those compensators were soldered on?

    Gunsmith.

Some of those old shotguns did come with Cutts Comps but not with an 18" barrel. Someone has had the barrel shortened and had the comp reinstalled if it came with one or bought one and had it installed.

Is the compensator not adjustable for different chokes?

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. The compensator is threaded on both ends. The choke has a fixed mod but can be swapped out for others, but i probably won't get too far into that. Those old .410 Cutts chokes are worth more than the shotgun
