    .22 LR barrel/bolt for 10/110 receiver?

This is going to be a bit odd.
I'm looking to build a practice gun to replicate the feel of my Savage Palma.
Does anyone offer a .22 LR barrel that can be dropped into a Savage 10/110 receiver (or Target receiver)?
A quick search of the Shilen and Criterion sites haven't yielded anything helpful.
I figure it would be great fun to shoot this beast at 100/200 yards. Good wind calls would certainly be necessary - just like a long range match with a .308 Palma gun.
Of course it would be necessary to modify the bolt. I'm willing to do that work if I can find the barrel.

    Thanks.

Im thinking it might be an obstacle to get a CF bolt to hit a rimfire. Feeding and extraction would be problematic as well.

Reloading a 223 is about the same cost or cheaper than Eley, Lapua or SK.

You can laod them down to 1100 FPS and really work on the wind effects.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

    That's pretty brilliant.
I hadn't thought of slowing down a .223 enough to make it replicate a .308 at long distance. I have a couple of .223 LRPVs that I can restock to do the job. The trick will be to find the right bullet and velocity to replicate a .308 at long range. That's a pretty neat problem, but it's very do-able.
My original assumption was that I would have to rework the bolt and firing pin to enable firing and extraction on this receiver. That would be tricky. Your recommendation makes a lot of these problems go away.

Spend some time with different 224 bullets and a ballistic calculator. to see what velocity you need.

Hodgdon Reloading has some subsonic loads for the 223 with 55gr bullet.

With your LRVP's 26" barrel, those subsonic loads might be closer to 1,200 - 1,300 fps. But I have not actually tired them so give them a try and chrono them to be certain.

    From Hodgdonreloading.....

    223 Rem.
    2.200" coal
    55gr Hornady FMJ

    IMR TrailBoss - 4.0 gr - 1,074 fps

    Hodgdon Titegroup - 3.1 gr - 1,064 fps

    Hodgdon Clays - 3.2 gr - 1,060 fps

These loads look like they'll have no recoil and would be fun to shoot.

You can also try the 60% H-4895 rule for a reduced load. This might give you around 1,800 fps but be more tune friendly.

You just need to buy a Mk II with the right stock!

Its got the Acu trigger and so good to go.
