    New guy from PA

Hello all, as my name suggests, I have a passion for killing groundhogs here in Western PA. I started when I was young (8-9 years old) so I have been at this hobby for roughly 15 years. Up until a couple months ago I used one gun, a Savage 340 in 222. It worked OK for what I was doing, I never really took a shot over 200 yards until I bought my new gun which I will get to in a minute. Anyway, the 222 has I believe a Bushnell 3-9x32? real small objective, no tactical turrets so holdover was the name of the game, one reason I never took long shots. Another reason is because of the less than desirable trigger. I started reloading for it this summer thinking I could save some money and increase the accuracy, it is right around 1 MOA on a good day. After some frustrating load development that yielded no results I decided to buy a new gun. I bought a Savage 12 FCV in 204 and boy am I glad I did! The accutrigger makes a world of difference and a scope with tactical turrets is a lot better than holdover on long shots. Longest shot to date is 370 yards, my goal next year is 400 and possibly 450 if I get the chance. I will begin load development for it next spring, going to give 39 gr SBK's a try over top of H4895.

I've been a lurker for some time now and I finally decided to join, looks like a lot of great guys and gals here with a lot of knowledge.
