    200 Stevens 223 twist rate

I just got a Stevens take off barrel in 223 Rem. I tried measureing the twist rate and it seemed like 12" . Is that correct??? I intend to use it primarily for paper, varmints and such so 52/53 match bullets will be used. Should be fine.

I think Savage 200s are 1:9 twist. I suggest getting a tighter fitting jag and recheck it. a 1:12 would probably shoot 40-50gn better than 55 and up, try all of them and see which is best.

1 in 9 is correct for that barrel.
