Help with date of gun

I have a 250-3000 with a serial number (366853) that shows made in 36 or 37 but a boss code D. Can someone please help me understand which one to go by.

What your seeing is an inspectors mark, not a date code.

If it were a date code the D would have been following an inspector number.

36 37 sounds right.
