dating the Stevens 320 Security 12 gauge

I was browsing the Savage Arms site when I selected the date of manufacture. I entered the ser no and it was not in the system. I bought the shotgun a week ago at Academy as new.

The ser no is 162514E. How can I date it?

The Savage Parts Finder is typically several months behind on recently produced serial numbers. That said, since these shotguns are made for them in China they might not even bother putting them in the system. Someone who's had one for awhile will have to verify if they are or not.

Thanks. That made sense. That site left me feeling that I bought a gun over 21 years old according to the ser no sequences. I assumed that.

Finally heard from Savage Arms. It's made in 07-16.
