Your choice for ammo at 100 yards.

Me again asking many questions, I am impatiently awaiting my 12 VLP. To those of you who have the Savage 12 VLP in .223 caliber what to you, or shall I say the gun like at 100 yards? I know all guns look the same but all guns are different too, kind of like people, look the same but different. Anyway what do you like at 100 yards? Again I know my results will be different but I will use your comments as a starting point.

    Thanks!!

    Stash,

100 yard paper punching, hunting small to medium game or varminting?

Paper I use 69gr SMK, mostly cloverleaf holes about .333 to .500" or so.
P-dogs, badgers, fox jackrabbits, 50g vmax
    Coyotes, 50g vmax, 50g jsp, 55 vmax, 55 jsp, 60gr JSP
Now of course these are all my handloads.

My one and only 223 is a Stevens 200. It loves the 50 gr Vmax and a not-full powder charge of either milsurp BL-C(2) or H-380 and Rem 7 1/2 primers. Out to 200 yds for either paper or coyotes.
    12F, McGowen 6.5x284 1-8&quot; twist, Nightforce 12-42x BR<br />BVSS, McGowen barrel, 22-250 1-9&quot; twist, Nikon 6-18x<br />16 FHLSS Weather Warrior, Sinarms 257 Roberts, Pentax 3-9<br />Stevens 200, 223 bone-factory-stock, Nikon 3-9x<br />Scratch-built BVSS, LW 243 1-8&quot; twist, Viper 6.5-20x50 mil-dot

High accuracy, paper punching. I do not reload, so will use factory ammo for now.
    Thanks!

Blackhills match has worked for me in the past. Another was Ultramax 55 grain SP&#39;s. Both of these turned in <1" groups at 100 yards from my 9 twist Stevens 200. With reloads this same rifle turned in groups less than 1/2" consistently and also produced some .3&#39;s as well as some .2&#39;s on occassion.

I reload now so I don&#39;t use any factory stuff.

+1 on the Black Hills with the Reman (blue box) or the new stuff (red box) they shoot awesome I like the 69 gr. HPBT which are SMKs. And I believe they even make moly coated bullets if your interested in those.
