    Question Savage 1907 light strikes

I just got a 1907 & experienced all light strikes. Thoroughly cleaned breech-plug without disassembling & still no luck. Need to try replacing the firing pin and/or spring but can't find instructions on removing from breech-plug. Anybody know how?

Welcome to the Forum and great question. I would like to know how to disassemble the breach plug as well. Maybe member Mad Dog can offer some assistance?

I guess I'm late getting to you.

You have to push the slide back and while holding it back flip the safety to safe and you should be able to let go of the slide and it will stay back on it's own. Then rotate the breech bolt 90 degree's and pull it out.

Yes, I was wanting instructions on disassembling the breech plug. Based on everything I've seen, the advice is, "don't do it". That's why I want to do it.

You're advised not to because there's no need if it isnt broken, and if you take it apart it will more than likely end up broken :)

I've changed the sear on a couple but thats as far as I've ever gone on a breech, and that was a learning process on it's own.

    Hi Sav22,

I know this thread is almost 3 years old, but I tried to view your videos and they are no longer available. Did you happen to upload the videos to YouTube?

I recently bought a Savage 1907 at auction and it appears the firing pin spring has "jumped" the firing pin retainer and I wanted to disassemble the breech plug to fix it.

    Thank you,

    Alex
