Savage 23D

Started collecting and shooting Savages and Marlins several years ago.
Just picked up a Savage Sporter 23D .22 Hornet and I was wondering what years they were made. I've got conflicting info, some say from 1923-1942 and others tell me they were made for a few years after WWII too. Can anybody clarify this for me?? Ser# is 22 43 XX I think!
Other Savages I own and shoot, three 99 takedowns in .25-35, .303 Savage and .30-30 with a Weaver 2.5 with a Stith mount. Also another Savage Sporter in .25-20, and a Savage 1911 Boys Rifle .22 bolt action repeater in .22 short. I like the old, odd ball stuff!!
Marlins include two 1893's in .38-55 and .32-40 and an 1889 in .32-20.

It's listed in my 1946 catalog but not in my 1949 catalog.

An educated guess would say that they dropped it from the move from Utica to Chicopee when they were chambering the model 342 in 22 Hornet in 1950.

Thanks!! The guy I bought it from said it was post war. It's quite different from the .25-20, different stock, no Schnabel, and different butt plate. I thought it was also unique being made from one piece barrel and action, and not a separate barrel and receiver. Must have been a lot of machining!! One "OOPS" and it's junk!!
