Hey guys
Just got my Richard's Microfit stock and placed my action into the inletting. I am pretty pleased. Had to do a little work where the bolt release is. Still need to do a little work where the barrel nut is. Surprised how well it fit. Have a whidden vblock coming. Looks like I will be taking out quite a bit of stock to bed it in devcon.
It will be a lot of work inletting, bedding, sanding and putting on about 20 coats of clear coat. My first attempt but I plan to take it slow and do the detail work.

That's a good start! It's going to look pretty cool once it's done and wearing a mile deep clear coat. Yours arrive in about the same condition as mine did, very rough. All those rasp gouges are going to be a lot of work. I bought a Makita electric palm sander, and some sticky-backed quality sand paper available at H. Depo. Probably saved myself 40 or 50 hours of sanding.

Thats actually a pretty good looking stock from what I can see. I know a lot of guys complain about their stuff. Came real close to buying one to use with the whidden block myself before going with the Choate to cut up. Sure would like to see them do laminate wood trigger guards so we didn't have to use steel. What does your stock look like under the action if you don't mind me asking?

Well I received my vblock I bought from midway. Unfortunately the bolt pattern on the v block and my action don't match. I will call whidden Tuesday and get the right one. I did use this one to hog out the stock. Glad this stock has so much wood. Would hate to try it with a sportster. Just messed up a little of the inletting around the action. For a first time I can live with it. It is to be used not just to look pretty. Action is sitting in there nice and free.

Some of the colored two part epoxy wood fillers work wonders on making small invisible repairs. I'll be watching for your progress no matter how long it takes. Fall is always an extra busy time of year getting ready for winter.

Got it bedded and pulled the action today. Started sanding. Other than the curved surfaces it really isn't taking that much sanding. Figure a little after work every day and after about a week we will start the clear coat. Plan to go to 600 grit before clear coat.
Going to check out the 2 part colored fillers. Need it.at.my pillars. Don't see how I screwed that one up. Next time I will use a.forstner bit and a jig.

Just a thought, but you might end up cutting a half inch or more off the butt to get your proper LOP. That might provide you with enough material to shape and use to fill any areas on your stock.
the last Richards stock I got looked like a mad beaver chewed it out. man it was rough!! looks like your stock was closer to shape than mine was. i'm still sanding on mine to get it beat into shape. had to use the belt sander it get it close, doing the rest by hand now.
