    Hello From Jacksonville, NC

Hi my name is John I am a retired Marine and have started back to school, taking some gunsmithing classes at Lenoir Community College. I just picked up a Savage Model 24 30-30/12 gauge for my school project. I will be refurbishing it back to like new condition (hopefully lol). Will be looking for some good advice on here.

    Welcome to the site!

Quick tip: Take the time to learn how to lighten and smooth up those Model 24 triggers and you'll find yourself with more work than you'll know what to do with. Most left the factory with an 8-9 pound pull weight. Bob Greenleaf (retired Savage engineer) worked one over for me once and was able to get it down to a little over 4-lbs and he said that's about as good as they usually get. Shame such a great gun was always handicapped by a miserable trigger.
