    My First Build Is Complete

This is my first build ever. I was planning an elk hunt and at first I was just going to buy a factory rifle put a good scope on it and run with it but after a little research and figuring out building a rifle wasn't that hard I decided to take the dive as I feel it is more rewarding building my own. Well after a lot more money than I expected to spend and a little more weight than I anticipated I have it done. I think it looks awesome I just hope it shoots awesome!

Savage 110 Action, NSS Recoil Lug and Barrel Nut, 24" Lite Varmint Criterion 300 Win Mag Barrel, and a McMillan Gamescout Stock, Vortex 4-16 x 50 HST

Nice. You spared no expense. And I doubt you could have bought a better hunting rifle at any price.

Haven't shot it yet. For right now in gonna try the Hornady precision hunter 200 gr eldx loads and further down the road I'm gonna invest in some reloading equipment and work up my own.

Nice work. Great to see the bolt on the correct side
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Good selection of parts. Should serve you well.
Now good luck on your next six or so builds
and spending a lot of time outside with your dog at night.

Very nice looking rifle! I did the same barrel but in 280AI a couple years ago. Shoots good but is a heavier than I had originally planned. Be sure to keep up posted on your shooting!

Ahh...they're all on the correct side, just gotta put your face on appropriate side 😉.

I went out and did a quick break in with 20 rounds then took it out shooting at rocks. I was using the Hornady precision hunter 200 grain eldx loads and I was putting hits on targets at 585 yards. Needless to say I am pleasantly surprised with how well it shoots already!

I like the gamescout a lot. I did a rough weight on my bathroom scales and it's about 11.4 pounds. Little heavier than I planned on but I can handle it.

That is not to bad. I really like the light varmint contour. It is a nice happy medium.

I had it inletted by McMillan for the factory savage dbm. I'm pretty sure they will inlet for many of the aftermarket dbm systems.
