7mm barrel swap

I have a model 111 in 7mm I am looking at getting an aftermarket barrel (undecided at the moment on which one). I want to shoot u to 180gn so i was thinking about 1:8 twist or 1:8.5 in a bull barrel. I was reading a few barrel manufacturers have 5 and 6 groove barrels,that's new to me. What is the main difference between them? What are some good barrels out there in and around the 400$ range that you guys actually use? What is a good replacement stock as well that's not going to cost an arm,leg and first born child? thanks

Is that something i can order dies for? I was thinking something like that but never done anything except for standard loads 308,223,45-70.

There are several barrels to choose from in the $400 range. I like brux and have a brux chambered by Fred at SSS. The other barrels in that price range will perform just as well.

Don't worry so much about the grooves in the barrel. You're chamber will wear out faster than the grooves in your barrel. You would have to give a price range for what you're willing to spend and possibly modify the stock. Boyds makes a good stock, but you will want to pillar bed and possibly glass bed the stock. My preference is with choate for low end high value replacement drop in stocks. For something in the $400 price range, you could look at a custom laminate stock from SSS or from another manufacturer. You can get a chasiss system from MDT and choose which ar-15 stock and grip you like. That will put you in the $600 range. For something higher end, you could look at Manners, or McMillan, both make great high end stocks.

You could go with a Savage Varmint profile, save a bit of weight, its a Heavy Barrel but not a bull. Price is the same.
