6mmBR Norma project mostly wrapped up

The beginning of this year I decided I needed another rifle dedicated to small groups and shooting from a full rest set up. The BR case has always intrigued me and with Lapua making good brass that needs minimal prep, my mind was set. I was torn between building another Savage or doing a Remage setup and have access to Jewell triggers and endless supply of quality stocks. The recent Rems I've seen that were so darn crooked steered me back to Savage and when member "Armed in Utah" posted an old flat back single shot model 12 action in the classifieds I couldn't pass it up.

So here's the specs to this point:

Model 12 Single Shot with 4.2" spacing
    BA bolt handle
    Sharp Shooter Supply competition trigger
    NSS heavy recoil lug
    NSS precision barrel nut
Criterion 28" bull contour 1-8" twist .272" neck large shank barrel
Sharp Shooter Supply dog tracker stock
    EGW picatiny rail
Burris Signature Zee rings in medium height
    Weaver T-36 with fine crosshairs
Sinclair Intl stock tape and mirage shield

There's several things I'm going to change such as the bolt handle and going to a Sav-2 trigger as the SSS isn't reliable for me below a pound. The stock needs a few more coats of clear and then wet sanded and buffed out again this winter and I need my bolt head bushed by Gretan over the winter to stop primer flow even on the lighter charges. For now I just want to shoot the thing as its only been together since middle of June as I took my time and waited for sales on different components.

The rest setup is a Bald Eagle cast iron slingshot with BE front bag and windage mod to eliminate cable and a Protektor Deluxe Bumble Bee rear bag.

It's shooting 68gr Bergers in the .2-.3 range during load development without any holds for conditions on a pretty mild day. 32.8gr N135 is giving exactly 3500fps. I've played a little with the 107 SMK and H4895 and haven't been pleased. Nothing worth loading more of but I haven't tried a whole lot. Have some loaded with Varget (which I hate but if it works it works) and am going to pull them out of the lands and away a touch and try again.

Here are some quick pictures in poor lighting from over the weekend. When I'm back at the shop Saturday I'll get a real camera and put it out in the sun in plain view.

I'll update more as I do some load work and get some time behind it. Any questions on any components I'll give complete honest reviews to the best of my abilities. I also have a complete breakdown of each individual cost with shipping etc if anybody is looking for a similar build and wants a pretty good idea of what you will be into it for. I can PM you that or post it here if you'd like.

Nice rifle. Try some CCI 450 primers with the 107 Sierra running about 2600 ffps.
