    30-06 S/f 110 action to 300win mag problems

Building a long range rifle out of s/f 30-06. Question is, anyone have info or pics on milling rear of my receiver for a 300 win cip length mag? Right now wouldn't even feed standard length 300 win. Thanks in advance. or anyone have pics of a Magnum action bottom ..wanna use a screws g-7 chassis with aic mags in cip length so I know I have to open the bottom of my action up.

Just a thought, but it might be easier to start with a magnum action. Shouldn't be hard to source one. And someone more knowledgeable than myself might chime in, but I thought the long action was the same between magnum/non magnum? There is a write up and comparison on the homepage of the forum that lists all the known differences. Sorry I couldn't be more help

RS is correct. With exception to the ultra mag and lapua mag long actions.
My .300win mag started life as a stagger feed .30/06 as well and works great. Some slight adjustment to the mag lips was needed but no action mods should be needed.

It may be an issue going from stagger feed to center feed, there was a thread on AccurateShooter.com (classifieds) that discussed having to open up a stagger feed receiver to use with center feed magazine.

Yeah but my action has the dreaded 30-06 magazine nub that others have milled off to do the conversion. Lol...the bottom of the action sticks out about 3/8 of an inch or so past the bolt when fully retracted. Lol thanks though ..

Swissfan is onto something...i know as it is now a standard 300 win mag cartridge wouldn't feed into the bottom... let alone a cip length cartridge that I want to use out of an ai mag.. thanks ya got me thinking. lol

Not sure what the difference is, but I have converted my 30-06 to 300WM and 338 WM with zero feeding issues, and that was using the 30-06 magazine and lifter. Forgot to add, mine is a flat back, SF action as well.

I just had my receiver milled, coming from an old flat back 30-06 to 300 WM, to fit in a MDT LSS-XL chassis. In order for the magazine to fit properly, we cut the rear of the receiver back until it was flush with the fully retracted bolt. My magazine is MDT's and I believe it is the 3.715 mag length. I will be able to fit 3.600" oal 300 mag cases into it.

Here are a few pics, still waiting on my Apache barrel though.

Thatguyshm, you are a life saver.lol...exactly what I was talking about. ...thanks bro... I'm gonna go slightly further back for the cip length aics mags. Was talking with Scott Mcrees thismorning about this. External measurements are 3.850 for the cip mags, if I remember correctly. Thanks alot my good sir.
