    model 93 scope mounting

How do I remove or modify the rear site to mount a scope in the proper position?

You should be able to clear the sights with medium or high rings and a 40mm scope. I have a 93R 17BTVLSSS with no open sights and a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14X40 with Weaver High Grand Slam rings and there is plenty of clearence over the barrel and receiver. And if there was an open sight it would clear just fine.

tap it out using a drift or the back end of a screw driver?

I was afraid to try that on mine (Murphy's law) so I opted for a comb saddle. YMMV
