    Hello from Mississippi

Hello to everybody. I've been around firearms and hunting all my life but just discovered savages in my search for a rifle to build a custom rifle off of for my daughter and my self.

Are you still shooting at the Pascagoula Shooting Club?

I've been debating on joining - just have so many other irons in the fire right now.

You don't have to be a member to join in on the F-Class matches every 4th Sat of the month and the BR match the following Sunday. Good group of guys. No match in July because of construction. Check the web site for the match in August which I assume will be held on schedule if the construction is complete by then.

Appreciate that info. We've made commitments for the 4th Saturday of July (Cowboy Action Shooting in Amite, LA) so maybe we can make it to at least observe in August.

Don't observe. F-Class is similar to masturbation; it's a lot more fun doing it than watching it. If you have a .223 or .308, a tripod, and a rear bag then you can shoot F/TR. Otherwise, bring your forward rest and rear bag and shoot F-Open. You need 60 rounds plus about 8 or 10 sighters capable of 1/2 MOA @ 100 yards to start with. That may not be good enough to win, but it will get you started. The only other thing you need is a pad, but you can start with an old quilt or moving van pad.

I have rifles in both calibers but need to mount optics & sight-in before I can compete. I've not mounted a scope to one .308 and the other (my Model 10 that I use for hunting) has a 3-9x40 Leupold Mark AR with SFP mil-dot reticle. I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40mm with Multi-X reticle and a Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32x40mm AO with Multi-X reticle that I've never mounted.
