Yep, that's what I used on all of my Axis projects to date. Though I usually keep my Wheeler #2 in the jaws of my vise, I have used it freehand on my kitchen counter.
Is the wheeler action wrench(for 110's) an option for securing the Axis action when removing the barrel?

a rear entry tool (Davidson I think) works better and quicker for me

I will say the reason I like the action wrench is that, once the new barrel is headspaced, I can apply some extra torque to the wrench's bolts to lock the receiver and barrel together as I tighten the barrel nut.
