    Axis MDT Chassis

I've ended up with a 30-06 Axis. MDT says they only make them for short actions. I thought all Axis actions were the same. No?

You're right about the action being the same. The action will fit in the chassis regardless of the chambering, but the chassis will only accept short action AICS-style magazines. If you wanted to feed your .30-06 one round at a time through the ejection port, you could put the action in any short action Axis stock, including a chassis. It would fit, but the magazine wouldn't work.

That's what I was figuring. I'm planning a 6.5x55 build. I'll see if they may fit.

Guess I'll just have to measure when my barrel arrives. OAL shows 3.1, and the longest mag I've seen is 3.050.

I read somewhere in my finding we have 10/110 short action. I was discussing this with another savage owner whom had a 10 short action on why they would not fit the mdt chassis short action. I am about to give up on this creedmoor HB axis xp. it shoots real nice but no real upgrades like barrel, stocks. I did however put a muzzle brake on and a bradley cheek rest.
