XLR chassis and 243 mag feed issuses

Just put my rifle together and i am only getting about 50 percent reliability from the mag. It is an xlr element with aics pmag and 243 win. When the rounds bind up it looks like this

Has any one tried this chassis mag combo? Should i try a aics brand mag? I will probably get ahold of xlr after the Holliday weekend and see if they have heard of any problems like this.

I didn't expect any issues being a 308 family case so i expect it will be an easy fix.

Also this setup was a 223 using mdt polymer mags and it fed incredibly flawless. The mdt did not lock up with out some modification, but once it did it was great. Should i try mdt 308 mags? I would probably have to do the same modification but it only took about 2 min with a file. Mag length is not a huge concern as long as it is comparable to the pmags or longer.

    Thanks for any thoughts

Try feeding from the mag a little faster, I have had binding issues with mags when feeding slowly. Fast feeding from magazine never had issues.

I have played with speed a little bit. If i feed it very slow it dosnt bother to much.

If i go as hard as i can it is about 85 percent. But if i go at a moderate pace it is the worst.

I noticed the Pmags have longer lips than others... trim them back a little at a time and try feeding through them. Just don't trim them shorter than the mdt mags.

My XLR feeds really nice with AICS mags.

I haven't tried the plastic mags as they limit coal quite a bit it seems.

I found the problem... i got looking at it again and the round is getting stuck on top of the ejector pin.

I took a bolt from another rifle and it fed perfect. So now what? The problem bolt has the sss ejector kit and it really kicks the rounds out but that is no help if i cant chamber a round without problems.

This is a pic of the 2 bolt faces.

The top is the sss bolt and the bottom is the stock setup that works perfectly. Should i trim the sss ejector or put a chamfer on it like the factory? Or just order a factory style to replace it.

    Thanks for any help

Get a factory ejector from brownells (if they have it in stock)

Chamfering the SSS one might not be ideal.
