    New and Improved 6.5 Creedmore

This morning, got my lazy but up and made it out to the range with the updated Creedmore. After 4-5 shots to confirm zero, I shot a few groups. They fell into two categories, the first is when I practiced solid fundamentals, the second not so much. These were all shot with the Hornady 140gr ELD Match.

These three shot groups averaged right a .55MOA which I was very pleased with. Here is the second set.

These and another group I shot were all about 1.2ish, point being pay attention to the basics when your shooting Harris.

Nice shooting Rosco...makes a big difference when your paying attention to everything.

Thanks!! I just finished rebuilding it, this was the first day out so I need more time behind this gun.

Good shooting Rosco! Is that the 6.5 you had at Rockcastle? I know you were having a little trouble with it then.
Both of you are dead on....making sure everything is right makes groups alot smaller.

Scott, yes it was!! Even after Rockcastle I could not get it to consistently group, I think my PA 4-14 was not holding zero. They would start off MOA'ish and then open up after 10-15 shots and drove me crazy, not to mention all the money spent on ammo. So I sent my scope back and they replaced it with a new one, added the ARC 30mm rings, 10 MOA Ken Farrel base, APA Lil ******* break, and so far I have been happy with the results.

So I sent my scope back and they replaced it with a new one,
Glad you mentioned this. This is a great example of a scope that can sell but will fail you at the worst time. Many Vortex owners have suffered the same fate. I will continue to use the more durable proven brands.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Sweet! Looks like it's doin good. Do you like that brake? I'm thinking about putting a brake on my 280AI. I think LoneWolf runs one of those and really likes it.

Those ELDs were cutting through the wind to get to 1000 yards on my recent trip. It didn't matter if they were out of the bolt gun or semi-auto. They were right on par with the ballistic data I'd already established with the AMAXes too.

Good shooting! I'm glad you're getting your rifle's kinks sorted out too!

I do like the APA break but after shooting both the Ross Schuler and Lil B on the 6.5 I'm unable to tell the difference in recoil reduction, feels the same.

Don't get me wrong I like not having to use crush washers or send it off to have it timed but **** his only $35 where is this one is $160.

I noticed they were pretty expensive compared to some of the others. Have you shot this one without earplugs yet? 😂. I'm sorry....that accidentally slipped out lol. J/K.
I've pretty much made up my mind I'm gonna get a brake, just which one....so, since your barrel was already threaded, you just had to screw it on right?

Ha lol!! I vaguely remember something like that. And yes the APA break has a means to time it yourself but not the Ross Schuler.

I do like the idea of being able to time it myself, but it's not like it'd be coming on and off all the time anyway. Thanks for the info!

I just got a JP Enterprises Recoil Eliminator installed on a barrel by Apache, and I have to say that brake being perfectly timed on a barrel of the same OD is a thing of beauty. I'm going to feel bad if I have to change bolt heads and mess up my headspacing.

I know it's crazy but that runs thru my mind too. I drive myself nuts thinking about that kinda stuff!
    Dr. T....is that your 338 Edge? I think I
remember you saying you had the barrel on order from Apache.

I had bad luck with the factory loads. Not close to the lands as match rounds like. Reloaded some .010 off the lands and its nice and tight now with 42.0 gr of RL-17.

Have a friend who put some rounds together for me but haven't had a chance to use them. I am actually very happy with accuracy/precision thus far as the rifle averages right around .5. Can't see spending the extra time and money just to get to 3-4's. It really does very little for my hit percentage at longer ranges.
