    Lady Predator Hunter

Although normally not my cup o tea I wanted a short handy rifle for the wife and I to Coyote hunt with and something that fits the nieces and nephews well and is comfortable to shoot. Since the wife and I are both pretty short I thought the lady hunter platform would be a nice model to follow. I found a Lady Hunter stock online and purchased a new 22" axis heavy barrel take off chambered in .22-250 here on the forum. I ordered the detachable magazine and bottom plate from Savage and attached it to a top bolt release model 11 action. I took two inches off the barrel and recrowned it with a recessed target crown. I then had to inlet the stock to fit the top bolt release which was really easy and didn't require much. The rifle turned out pretty nice weighing just under 9lbs with scope and balances pretty well. I am wanting to run the 69gr Sierra Tipped Match king to maximize energy on target and keep velocity down a bit to be a bit easier on barrels. Initial load development put my load within half a grain of the load I was running in my last 26" Varmint barrel. I was able to print a nice 5/8" five shot group yesterday in some pretty stiff winds with 38.5gr of Reloader 17 and the bullet seated right at the lands. Hoping to get some chrony data next weekend to figure out how much velocity I am loosing with the 6" shorter barrel. My best guess is I will be running right around 3260 fps with an estimate of about 30fps per inch loss in velocity as my 26" barrel was pushing 3440 with the same bullet and essentially the same powder charge.

Nice looking rig. The Lady Hunter and LWH walnut stocks are compact, light and handle well. It certainly looks better than tupperware.

Very nice! Sounds like the tipped Match Kings are working well, is that a 1:9 twist or a 1:12?
