    93R17 Thumbhole stock

I just picked up a 93R17 with the heavy barrel and thumbhole stock. Its a cool little rifle. I'm looking forward to shoot that .17HMR at 200yd bullseyes, maybe a few varmits too. But, I'm a little dismayed at fit of the stock. Are there any quick-fix tricks to tightening this rifle up so it doesn't feel like the barrel is flopping around?

    What's the best/most accurate 17hmr Savage has?

I had a 22mag rifle that was deadly accurate at 100yds, I do own another brand 17hmr, but I will still swear my 22mag did the job maybe better than my 17 does now!

OPINIONS: I bought the 17 as I was told it "will" out perform the 22mag

Well, I un bolted the action/barrel from the stock, just to see how it was put together. Surprisingly, the action bolts into the stock fairly solidly, despite the barrel moving a bit in the forend.

I took it out to the range and fired 3 strings of 5 rounds at 50 yds. The first 2 strings were low and right, but were pretty nice groups considering this was the first time I'd shot this rifle. Here's what the 3 string looked like:

Have had mine for over a year and the action loosened early. Tightened it down and hasn't moved since. I liked the rifle so much I bought my 2 sons each one and am waiting for my daughter to decide which rifle she wants.

200 yards can was full. The 93R17-BTVSS will hit them consistently at this range. The round will drift considerably at this range.

Wow nice shootin' there. I'm still trying to get my wife behind a rifle!!! She's never shot a firearm (grew up in Hawaii, not alot of firearms on the islands) Not to mention I need her to get on the wagon as our boys are growin' up fast and I deff want to introduce them to fireams just as my father/grandfather did with me.
