Rust blue that thing! Actually pretty darned easy! I just did a full receiver, recoil lug, and bbl nut. Turned out great!

His issue/concern is that all the machined/trued recoil lugs out there are stainless. If you pay for the lug, I will bead blast, GunKote it flat black and bake and ship it to you for free.

    I do them almost weekly.

The 4140 PTG recoil lug that I did worked fine. Took a couple more coats than the receiver but coloring matches almost perfectly. Actually unless in very bright direct sunlight it looks identical. Guess I was assuming that he was using the 4140. My apologies.

Oh, and I used LMF rusting solution.

Also that is a fine service you are offering Foxx!

Edit(just decided to look around and I see EGW offers a blued recoil lug for savages or at least that's what it looks like)

My vote, as well, on the PTG lug. AND* the machined chrome moly barrel nut. Grabbed a bottle of birch wood Casey, cold blue & took care of both. I've been preaching PTG parts. They really are first class.

    Here's the end result.

The ptg doesnt have a index pin? Chrome molly can be cold blued?

Does anyone know the black finish on these Eabco ones? Is "savage accuracy" the actual brand?

Yes, if you want blued parts, you need to start with chrome moly.

I used a hardened steel wood nail, could have done without. I have use of only one arm/hand, and still could have kept it straight easily.

Interesting that .00025" made that much difference.
