My 308 with a BR 42 scope and 20 MOA rail gets about 34.5 MOA from a 100 yard zero. Your 105gr Scenars look like they would need between 34.5 - 35.5 MOA from a 100 yard zero depending on what velocities you are getting so it does not sound surprising that you are not able to make it out there.

Zero at 100 and click up to max, how many MOA does that give you? Measure the velocities you are getting. Plug in to JBM, along with temperature, humidity and elevation (the elevation at which you are shooting) and it should corroborate what you are seeing.

That is my only issue so far with the NF 12-42BR model... It needs just 10 more MOA of elevation travel and its golden... I use the Burris XTR rings with inserts and it takes a little bit of trial and error to get that perfect insert setting such that you can get a good 100 yard zero and still reach that 1000 yard mark with elevation to spare in the turret... Its a great piece of glass though, there is no question about that...

Just trying to see if anyone with similar setup could lend some advice. After all I read I hardly saw anyone needing to use 40moa base ? I zero,d it at 200,but I notice that
At 200 I'm already using about 40% of my adj so only 60% of adj left. Which maybe is how it is. Again hoping if someone with similar can shed some light.
    Thanks!
Try shimming the rear of the base until you get where you want to be. If it's shooting as well as you say, I certainly would hesitate to fool with the barrel, loads, or scope.

Which reticle do you have? Most of the guys I shoot with have the NP-2DD reticle, which has another dot 4 moa down from the crosshair. The guys with the BR's use this dot to get to 1000 instead of shimming or changing bases.

I have the same problem with my 12F 6br with a 20moa benchsource base on it, 12-42 BR scope, I got to 900 OK, but had to use the hash marks to get to 1000.

I'm hoping the 25moa bases going on my new rifles will sort it

Only the 1" comes with 20's. If you are 30mm, you need the Burris XTR rings which have two sets of 20's. If you also have a +20 rail, you could shoot a gazillion yards with these rings.

I'm guessing those XTR shims don't fit the standard Burris Signature 30mm rings? I was wanting a set of the +20/-20 inserts but I was told they don't make them for the 30mm standard rings. I didn't end up needing that much anyhow but it would be nice to have that option.

I have the XTR rings and the problem you will face is if you try to get another 20 MOA (with a 20 MOA base) you will be at the very bottom of the elevation adjustment. I was only able to use 10 MOA inserts in order to not be bottomed out. That NF BR optic needs 10 more MOA of adjustment IMO and it would be golden...

Also note that the XTR inserts will not fit the signature rings..
