Boyds stock and plastic front insert

So this memorial weekend I spent my time bedding a new boyds Varmint stock for my Savage Axis .308. What a pain, the bedding went fine, but when I was going to put action back in stock, the plastic insert for the stock stripped out, where it was to have a lip to stop the bolt from going too far in action, so with some head banging and a nice employee at a ace store, i ended up with steel pillars now, and a ugly screw but the stock is solid now, Boyds needs to figure out this problem

Do you have the old setup with the two plastic parts in front of the magwell (I call them a latch plate and escutcheon) or the new one with the single plastic piece? I don't like the new design at all. Based on descriptions of SSS's magazine latch and front pillar, it seems like a similar setup, but Boyd's is inferior in every way and inferior to the previous setup.
