    25-06 AI Bullet for Deer

I was wondering if a 100 gr ballistic tip nosler would be adequate for deer out of my 25-06 AI
I was hoping I didn't need to work up a load for coyotes and a separate load for deer??

if it will shoot good you cant beat it. I could not get them to shoot as well as 115's so I used them for years in my 25-06 sporter. I switched to 110 Acubonds several years ago and they work very well also. For an AI I would lean towards the accubonds. Should work real well for both.

I dont have an AI 25-06, just a regular one. Chances are if the 100gr NBT works well in your rifle the 110gr Accubond will shoot just about the same. I would opt for the heavier slug at the speeds you would be getting with the AI.

I use the same load for 100gr SMK, 100gr NBT's, and the few 110gr Accubond I have shot, all seated the same, powder charge the same, primer, case, only difference is the slug, velocity and group size (not by much though)

...The 100 grainer is the hunting bullet so I see no reason why it wouldn't...That's what I'm going to use this year...I know for a fact that the 90gr NBT out of a .243 will knockem DRT...

Re: 25-06 AI Bullet for Deer

I killed 4 deer last year w/ my new .250 Savage using the 100gr. Sierra Game Kings loaded to 3000fps. Shot them from 50 yds to about 100 yds or so. They worked very good at all different shot placement angles- broadside, quartering, etc. The extra fps of the 25-06 or AI version should make the bullet blow up more. Might want to try the Accubond??

I know I could always move up to a more traditional "hunting" bullet like the accubond

My think here in building the 25-06 AI was a hot rod coyote gun. That is why I selected the 100 gr ballistic tip. I don't want to work up two loads, one for deer and one for varmints. I'll just have to give these a try this season and see how it works for me.

Thanks for all your input and comments

It is a fine Coyote bullet if you aren't worried about fir. I used that bulleyt on some Antelope & from 200yds & out it was great & does fine up close for ribcage shots.

I've killed deer & elk with a 100 grain out of a 257 Roberts. Works well on dogs too. You shouldn't have worries with 25-06 AI. Good luck. Joe

A 115 Berger VLD for deer, 110 Accubond for elk. that berger is devastating on deer and likely suitable for elk, I just haven't heard of anyone shooting one with it in .257 115 grain.

If you are using the 100 gr BT on yotes then you must not be keeping the hides. That thing is wicked for expansion out of a regular 25-06. The 100 BT will work for deer but I prefer the 117 Sierra for deer out of my 25-06. My buddy used the 117 Sierra also in his 25-06AI with great success. I have not tried the 110 AB in my 25-06 but I did use the 130 AB in my 264 Win Mag this past year to take 4 deer from 98 to 275 yards. It is a great bullet. One shot and they were on the ground like it had been jerked from under them. I did recover one bullet from a buck at 111 yards. This bullet leaves the muzzle of my 27 3/4" barrel at 3350 fps average. The buck was facing me with a slight angle and I placed the bullet on the edge of it's left front shoulder. The bullet smashed the front shoulder made soup of the vitals and when I was cutting up the meat I found the bullet in the right ham. It was a text book mushroom and weight was 87 grs. It that bullet will expand and hold together at what still had to be around 3200 fps and do what it did it has to be a good bullet. I would give the 110 AB a try for an all round bullet. You will not have to worry about it blowing up at close range out of your BEE.

I use the 100 Gr Hornady IL in my 257 AI at 3130 fps and it works on yotes and deer and everything in between. Been using this load for about 15 years.
