    Curious about 6x45.

I just got my M11 Trophy Predator Hunter shooting well and have a nice handload worked out covering my needs but I guess I'm never quite satisfied.

So, I was thinking, what about a 6x45? My original intent was to shoot the .223 barrel until I got bored and then probably spin on a barrel in .223AI 1:8". But, I'm thinking would a 6x45 be better for longer-range targets? For instance, an 87gr V-Max has a .400 BC and it's a good mid-range bullet in .243 where it's pushed well over 3k. But in a 6x45 would it outclass a 77-80gr bullet fired from a .223AI?

    What says you, Savage-Shooters?

Meh.. I did some quick research. Looks like the .223AI will fly a 75gr Amax at 3000+ so the 6x45 kinda looks pointless now and projectiles will be more expensive.

Yup, 1:8 twist in a bolt action seems to have some good reports out to 600 yards even in wind. Forgot where, just read about it last week.

See if you can seat long to save some space in the case. I have 6x45 on an AR because the longer cartridge doesn't fit. Haven't tested 75gr in my 223 TH yet. It didn't like plinker 55gr FMJ but 40gr V-max shoot well.

The A/I will have better velocities than 6x45 negating the difference in BCs. I just ordered a 7 twist A/I barrel and Im going to test it extensively at 1000 yards.

Shooting the 223 rem to 600 yards only requires 80 grain bullets (although i shot a 475 across the course using mag length 75s), 20" bbl and an 8 twist to stabilize them.
