    Model 1899 250-3000 anyone familiar?

My grandfather has an old revolving mag lever action savage, and was wondering what kind of money it was worth. The serial number is 189225

Condition is everything. Can you post some photos?

Your rifle was made in 1917, and I think it's an 1899 A Take down model, or an 1899 Short rifle take down...not sure. It has the Perch belly stock. Could you include photos of the front sight, and the Butt plate?

Looks like the 1899 .250-3000 model look at this page:

    http://www.savage99.com/models.htm

Does the forearm look like the checkering was either worn off, or it was re-finished? I see it on the pistol grip, but not the forearm...also, I believe your 1899 .250-3000 model used a Blade front sight, not the bead type you have....although, Grandpa might have switched it out. I'm still trying to get the exact model, so I can look for it's value. Mad dog will probably be along, and could clarify.

Is the trigger Checkered or lined? If it's checkered, I'm quite positive it's the "1899 .250-3000 model".

Yep, than it should be the "1899 .250-3000 Model"

My Gun Digest doesn't give a value for that model.....

I always like to look at Gunbroker, to get an idea of prices. I'm guessing you might be in the neighborhood of $ 700...granted the bore is not pitted, and everything works.

    See these current listings:

Take them with a grain of salt, but you look comparable.

Here is my 1924 Early model F.

I'm doing a refurbishment on it, and have it all stripped down....waiting on Tig welding the scope holes, than Rust bluing, and refinishing the wood.
