When I ran into that problem, I solved it with a Dremel and small sanding drums to open up the trigger guard slot.
I recently bought a used 110 GXP3 and would like to replace the plastic trigger guard with something blued and metal. I tried Savage but they sent me a guard that is matte and a little to wide to fit into the stock. When I called them they assured me that was the best they could do. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Check out offerings from Boyds. They sell stock accessory small parts. Price was best I found when I needed one as well.
