If you switch to IMR 4895 I use it with 22 hornet,22/250 223 243 250 260 308 7mm rem 30/30 and now working up a load for 6mm br norma.

29.0 grains of H4895 is my pet load for my wife's 6mmBR with 105 Berger VLDs. I have also used it with great success in a couple .204 Rugers and .250 Savages.

Thanks for the response guys.
Im putting together a 260 with a 26" 1-8 and have an 8lb jug just setting there and have been wanting to get started on load development with H4895.
According to what Ive read.....the 4895 can handle a variety of weights. Just have to find it.

It is 26" 1:10 twist and using 140 gr. Sierra's 34gr. - 34.4gr. . May not be the fastest but was 5 in ragged hole @100.

What I like about H4895 is that you can do reduced recoil loads for introducing the grand children to centerfire rifles. Hodgon has a nice data sheet on the subject in the reloading data area.

I honestly don't remember. I had all of my loads chrono'd and in a spread sheet but that computer crashed and burned and I wasn't able to retrieve anything from it. Since then I got lazy and only do what I am working on at the moment.
For instance with a 6br on Sunday in the rain I chronoed a load, 105 Berger's, 28.8gr. IMR 4895. CCI sr, 2709 avg. MV, SD 9, put 20 shots down range and 17 would fit under a Quarter with the magneto speed attached to the barrel. I've been told that you need at least 2800 or better for the 105's so I might up the load and see if I can do better, but I doubt that it will.

If my calculations are correct, then 29.8 should get you going right at 2800

If you load "by the book" that would be a full half grain over max. Probably still with in the lawyers mandatory reduction loads for publication.
I don't know if it would fit in the case, I'll drop one just to see.

Roger that. Increased speed may not be needed. According to your outcome?.....Id leave it alone but then again if you don't try it then I guess you,ll never know.

17 rounds with a hole the size of a quarter ?......man I wish Id of order my new barrel 6BR.
I looked into it but after I researched it and started looking for components and brass I realized that it would take time to get everything including brass and pills. I should of done it anyway. Heck, Im still waiting on my 260 barrel.

I use H4895 to reload for my CZ 527 Varminter in ((( 17 REM ))). It is the best powder I have found for my 17 REM, and it works extremely well in my 30-06`s also.

Its going to have to work in my 15" 243 with 105's. First match is sneaking up and I've got an 8 lb'er of it, lots of single pound canisters of different stuff but no 8's.

H4895 is a very versatile powder,with a very wide range of cartridges

If you ever find you need load data I highly recommend the hodgdon website. They make or import almost all the powders you can use and their data is as fresh and up to date as humanly possible since they develop their own data with their own test rigs.
