    How to get a 308 5R barrel?

I'm having second thoughts about my upcoming Savage build. For now, I was planning on using a Criterion 308 barrel cut down to 20" and fluted, chambered in 308. I've got two rifles with 5R barrels and I love them. I'd like to do a 5R for my Savage if possible. If I bought a blank from someone, who do you all recommend to chop, contour, chamber and flute a barrel?

    I can't find a Savage pre-fit 5R.

Ive had real good accuracy out of my 5r 308 11.25 twist. Up until recently I thought the barrel was cooked after a little over 2K rounds but was proven wrong by a smith who simply cut some off the muzzle, reset headspace and she,s back.
I think there great as well Tony.
I had a chance to buy a pulled brand new unfired from a FCP model 10 exactly like mine from Gun Broker..... I waited to long to pull the trigger and it was gone before I knew at...Im still pist about that one.

Have a 6mmBR Bartlein barrel chambered by Southern Precision Rifles (Bugholes). It's a shooter!

Check out xcaliber barrels also. I believe they can do a 5r in a prefit. Not sure what twists they have them in but they have a lot of options.

Got it all figured out. Found a guy to do a Rock Creek 5R Savage pre-fit for me. Pederson Precision. Bugholes had 5R's but not in the twist rate I wanted.

    Thanks guys!

Let us all know how that works out for you. I am getting ready to get a replacement myself.

Will do! It's going to be a while though. My McMillan stock isn't due for another 2 months and I'll be placing my order for the barrel next week.
