338 lapua ba savage action?

Hey I know its been talked about over and over. It seams most people say you cant do a savage 338 lapua. Well my question is what action are these factory's savage 338 using? I have an old modal j LA 223 action is there anyone that makes a bolt face for it. I waiting for Scott at Mcrees stocks to bet back with me. He is looking into it to see what I can do. Any thoughts guys?

nope you can't and they have a special action made for just that, its bigger than the other ones.

223driver, firstly you'd need to upgrade your moniker 338thumper ;D, but seriously, who says you cant do a savage in 338LM? What ever you chamber into a SMALL RING savage barrel you will end up with exactly 1 tenth of an inch more root thickness then the equivalently chambered Rem or Weatherby barrel....(if my math is correct in consideration of the UNF spec thread engagement)
As has there been said; if the 378weatherby family of bone desolators hold together in a weberie....then we should be ok.

Next consideration is the mag/feeding - LA has an opening of 97.5mm (3.84inches) but a mag internal dimension of about 90mm (3.54inch) so the mag/magwell will need some work if using such an action.

As a final note; The invogue 338LM, being a new cartiridge ::) (that did not acheive its design intent) has been catching on of late. There are a number of alternatives to the 338LM some lower and some higher case capacity. The 338Edge has quite a bit of interest around here.
