    axis barrel free float

Friend of mine won a 22-250 axis. The barrel touches the stock on both sides , pretty much 2/3 of length. This isn't right is it?

Nope. But some come that way. Not hard to open it up though.

That's what I thought. Not mine , so figured best make sure before I operated on it. Thanks.

Both of my Axis rifles had their barrels touching the stock, one more than the other. Relieving the stocks just enough to freefloat the barrels was quite easy, but to be honest accuracy was unaffected by the operation. They were both great shooters out-of-the-box, and still are.

my upper left is touching, I sent info to savage but do not really expect anything but a pat on the back for noticing it. I plan on filling it in and sanding away on it then try bedding the action? who knows and all the while awaiting MDT to come out with their stock option for our axis II's hahaha looks like work ahead
