Exactly what are you going to use the rifle for?

For ground hogs, I'd try some Nosler Varmageddon 110 grains. They can be a little pricey, but you can catch them on sale at MidwayUSA from time to time.

It's hard to say, as every rifle is different. My .308 has a 22" sporter barrel and a 1in10" twist. Average group with the varmageddons @ 100 yds is usually around and 1"+/-. Like I said, some barrels will prefer one ammo over another. Only one way to know if your rifle will group them good. Buy a box and try them out. Hope this helps.

150gr on a ground hog. please send pics.
My theory if it aint broke don't fix it. You go tit sighted in then just keep using it.
I believe 150gr should drop a ground hog...

If you're hunting anywhere around houses 150 and up is too heavy for ground hogs.If you miss that bullet won't blow up in the dirt and could ricochet anywhere. There are some excellent varmint bullets out there for the 308. Mine likes the Speer 130 gr varmint HP.
