243 bullet for deer out of a model 11 TPH

What bullet is the majority decision in .243 on deer with the 9.25 twist? Closest shot could be 30 yards with farthest being 200.
    Thanks

    Speer 85 gr spitzer boat-tail, #1213. Also, Speer spitzer flat-base 90 gr, #1217. I'd use the 90 gr, which I have used since 1967.

What's the closest shot you've taken with the 90 grain, good expansion at close range?

    Thanks

Closest shot was a frontal shot on a 12-pointer in 1967, about 60 yards; and he went straight up, and came straight down. I didn't find the bullet, but on a frontal chest shot, if it had not expanded, he would have run. The longest shot was 385 paces, and all of them were one-shot kills, from a 20" barrel. All the 90 grain Speer flat-base #1217.

Couldn't have said it better myself. My Win M70 shoots both of these bullets very well and it's a 1:10".

85gr Sierra HPBT and H4831. Killed a lot of deer with this combination. That little bullet is deadly!
For factory ammunition Federal Fusion 95gr and Hornady's 100gr BTSP both shot well in several 243 rifles.

Buddy of mine will be reloading for me and his 243, he's using the 100 grain hornady interlock, ill try some out for groups and maybe some type of HPBT, I was curious how they faired in a real rifle format, I use 180 grain XTP (HP pistol bullet) in my encore 357 rem max and they are wicked.

    Thanks for all the input.

I have loaded 85 gr Sierra for many guns over the years and it has never failed to perform.

The Hornady 100gr interlocks work well for my son out of his .243.

I concur...Sierra 85 gr HPBT and H4831 is all that's ever been shot out of my Model 7 243 (I know, not a Savage). Got it when I was 7 years old and I'm 26...it's dropped at least one deer each of those years in between in their tracks. Very deadly combo
