    large shank barrel nuts

Does anyone know if anyone makes a large shank barrel nut that is slightly longer than factory large shank nuts? I have a large shank barrel a friend made for me and he cut the threads too far down towards the muzzle. Now when i install the action and properly headspace it, the nut does not completely cover the dront few threads.

Norm, you probably won't find what you're looking for without having a custom one-off made. PT&G does make different thicknesses of recoil lugs that would have the same effect of moving the nut farther out.

One can be custom made, but your better off taking Hotolds442's advice, it's definitely the cheaper way to go.

How many threads are showing, mm = ? , or inches ?

    ^ That's what I would do.

Just get a thicker recoil lug. Probably going to be cheaper anyway.

EDIT: Dennis beat me to it.

I considered the lug idea... it would have to be at least .155 inches thicker. Not sure i will find that, either. Also, it needs to be for an Accustock. ( Its not mine)

Call PT&G. Tell them what you need. They should have no problem with your request.

^ Then it would end up the same length as a large shank nut :-) "

The thick recoil lug is the way to go. :-)

I am certain the Nut is longer on a Small diameter narrel than it is on the larger diameter.

You are correct, until you open it up for a large shank thread.

Any shop can spit one out a jiffy if you dont mind not being able to use your nut wrench. You could use a spanner hole.

You lost me there. What is a spanner hole

I have a pretty good smooth nut wrench (if there is such a thing) I got from Dennis at My Accurate Barrel. The diameter might not match, but maybe...

So you could use this tool or something made to tighten the barrel.

That would be the ticket as well. You are only limited by clearance and cosmetics. Fear and atmosphere.

Why don't you just cover the threads with a strip of aluminum tape?
